The Northern Alliance

The Northern Alliance or, more fully, "The Northern Alliance of Baronies," is an alliance of the Baronies of the Northlands of Caid.

Existing upon the northern marches of the Kingdom, these border baronies have grown strong defending the central heartland of the Kingdom.

Each Barony and its allied forces is dedicated to upholding the Crown of Caid and defending the Kingdom. In order to best do this, each Barony maintains and trains its own independent levy. Several of the member Baronies also have relationships with allied groups which take the field with them during times of war.

All of these are joined together into a mighty battle force at wars. This force fights under the command of a battle commander who is named by the mutual decision of the Barons of the member Baronies. The banner of the Northern Alliance is borne by a Vexillarius, a person who has distinguished themselves by acts of bravery and inspiration and is raised to this position by the acclaim of the Alliance warriors.

At large wars, after the most full day of fighting, the Northern Alliance warriors gather in a mutual toasting ceremony where they recognize and do honor to the deeds of their fellow Alliance members.

The Northern Baronies which make up the Alliance are:

Nordwache, Dun Or and Starkhafn all hold the northern border of the Kingdom of Caid; defending the southern lands and fighting for the Crown.

Lyondemere is located squarely within the south. Yet its Baron has consistently shown a dedication to serving Crown and Kingdom by sending forces into the North to help hold the border. His sword arm, and those of his warriors, has been very much appreciated in the past. By the request of Master Jamal, Baron of Lyondemere, and by the enthusiastic agreement of the Barons of the Northlands of Caid, the Barony of Lyondemere is at heart one with the North and stands with the Northern Alliance in defending Caid.
