Recipes from The Most Excellent Brewers' Guild of Starkhafn

Hippocras recipe:

1 bottle of wine (almost any kind will do)
2-3 inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped
3/4-1cup sugar
1/2-3/4 cup mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, a clove, allspice, star anise (or you may use an equal amount of mulling spices)
15-20 peppercorns, cracked (black, white, cubeb, or long pepper)

Warm wine and add sugar, stir to dissolve. Add spices and allow to sit for 24 hours. The next day, strain out spices, and bottle. Let sit for another day or two to meld, but can be consumed immediately.

Gilded Spoon

One Sunday a month from approx 3pm to 7pm we hold a lovely little meal for our meeting. We meet, cook, eat and dissect our meal! If you are unfamiliar with the Gilded Spoon, we are Starkhafn's cooking guild. We welcome everyone who is interested in medieval/renaissance cooking and of course eating! We usually meet the third sunday of each month. The guild meets at the house of Lord Bercilak Von Nuerenberg and Lady Diana d'Avignon. You can post a request for address and directions to the Starkhafn Yahoo! Group or Facebook group and I will reply privately. When we cook, we share the cost of ingredients. This is usually between 2 and 5 dollars. We look forward to seeing you!
